I met a nice lady on facebook, Lainie from New Jersey. She sent me these photos and said I could share them with you. She had traveled to Leverington Cemetery in Roxborough (Philadelphia) PA to see the graves of her Great Great Grandparents. She almost didn’t find them because they had sunken so deep into the ground.

Obviously it took much searching to unearth them. Look at the depth to which they had sunk. She asked the caretaker to upright them and cement them into place. She had not visited them in some time to be sure the caretaker had done what he said he would do. When she traveled back to the cemetery she was happy to find them in place and green grass around them. Sometimes it’s just a matter of asking the caretaker to help you.

She says the cemetery is in deplorable condition because of vandalism. They saw broken, upended and sunken grass covered stones. She knows there are many missing stones in this cemetery. If you can volunteer at this cemetery please contact them at john17lab@rcn.com
